As we relish the long days full of sunshine that come with the middle of summer, this is a good time to re-examine our new year’s resolutions.
Remember those? It seems like a long time since we set them, so let’s see if we are still on course. We still have 6 months to make them happen!
It’s easy to get distracted and caught up in life once the thrill of the new year passes. As you’re enjoying summer break, beautiful breezes, and peaceful time in the sun, determine what progress you’ve made.
Look at what you have already accomplished. For the incomplete goals, think about whether these are still your ambitions.
If not, let’s figure out why.
Look at what you set out to do this year. Maybe you aren’t procrastinating. Maybe these are goals that no longer lead to the dream life and career you crave.
If you find yourself in this situation, don’t sweat it! This is an opportunity to right your sails and readjust your compass.
Start by writing down where you want to be at the end of this year. Set reasonable goals, ones you can achieve with a little focus and work over the next 6 months.
Then, determine if you need a little something extra to reach these goals. This could be accountability, help with the house or kids, coaching or training, or just a new pair of sneakers.
Next, make sure you actually GET whatever help you need to reach your goal. Make it part of your plan for success. After all, a goal without a plan is just a wish, so make sure you have a path defined for you to walk.
Now that we are on the right track, let’s make sure we track our progress. Make notes, mark off a calendar, or journal to help you stay the course. Seeing your progress will help encourage you to keep pushing yourself further.
Now that we are heading in the right direction, we have help, and we are tracking our progress, we have to make sure that we reassess more often than every 6 months. If you don’t want the rest of the year to slip by without achieving your dreams, then mark off times on your calendar to examine your progress. Set an alarm on your phone, and hold yourself accountable.
I love seeing you succeed! Tell me about your ambitions and where you are on your path. Are you still focused on the prize?
What have you checked off your list of resolutions?
Are you still heading toward any remaining goals?
What progress have you made?
Are these still goals you want to meet?
Are these goals that will take you closer to the dream life and career you crave?
What do you want your life to be like at the end of the year?
What do you need to help you achieve that goal?
When will you check back in to determine your progress and reassess your goals?
